GLASGOW finished third in today’s Championship Fours – meaning their wait to win the competition goes on.
The Tigers have never won the trophy and that record looked certain to continue after two last places in their opening two heats of the qualifying round.
But a run of wins from Craig Cook, backed up by Rasmus Jensen and Paul Starke, saw Cami Brown’s men make the final – despite Claus Vissing being out of form.
They faced Somerset, Sheffield and Eastbourne and were well in the running until the middle set of heats when their challenge faded.
They did end up in a race-off for second, but Cook hit the deck in the final stages of the race against Sheffield’s Danny King after a superb battle.
The Tigers return to full team competition next weekend – facing Edinburgh at Armadale on Friday night then hosting their Scottish rivals at Ashfield on Sunday.
