PAUL Starke pulled out his performance of the season to hand Glasgow a major boost ahead of a busy week of league and cup action.
The Tigers’ Ironman was unbeaten by an opponent in four out of five races as they romped to a 55-35 win over arch rivals Edinburgh.
It added three more points to Glasgow’s league total and made it five wins out of five in the SGB Championship so far, following on from Friday night’s victory away to Edinburgh.
Starke overcame a last in his opening ride to produce some stunning passes, most notably in heat 15 when he battled from last to second to seal a 5-1 with maximum man Craig Cook.
He said: “I had a bit of a crash yesterday and was struggling, so I needed to bang some points in to be honest, so it was good to get some race wins and get my confidence up moving forward to a busy week.
“After my first heat I think my dad just gave me a bit of a kick from behind and said, pull your finger out!
“We changed a few things and the bike felt quick, and I felt good – the track was good today. There was some good racing, and it was perfect for me and perfect for the team.”
Glasgow now go to Redcar on Tuesday on KO Cup business before visiting Birmingham in the league on Wednesday and hosting the second leg against Redcar on Friday.
